Wallace Anderson Sr. was a dedicated family man, patriarch, and successful landscaper who passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 12, 2026. Born May 8, 1930, in Jasper, FL, he later settled in Jacksonville, FL, where he built a 25-year landscaping business alongside his loving children and grandchildren.
Early Life & Background Born:
May 8, 1930, in Jasper, Florida. Parents: Riley E. Anderson and Lizzy Anderson (deceased). Siblings: Twin brother Ellis Anderson (deceased), as well as Riley (Carol), Odell, Lonnie, Arnie, Reatha, and Ralph Anderson. Upbringing: Raised on his parents' family farm, where his father Riley Anderson and grandfather Sam Anderson instilled in him a deep appreciation for hard work, discipline, and nature.
Legacy & Survivors:
Married Wilene Cobbs Anderson in Jasper, Florida. Children: Eight children (including a set of twins who were stillborn). Life in Jacksonville: Relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, where he first worked at Jacksonville Shipyards and the Railroad.
Wallace Anderson Sr. leaves to cherish his life: wife Wilene Cobbs Anderson (deceased); sons Wallace Anderson Jr. (deceased) (Deborah), Ronnie Anderson and Kelsey Anderson; Daughters: Patricia Anderson, Francis Anderson Adams (Dolph), Cheryl Anderson (Al), Verdia Anderson (deceased), and devoted granddaughter Tina Anderson. Siblings: Ellis Anderson, (deceased) Riley Anderson(Carol), Odell Anderson, Arnie Brown, Lonnie Anderson (deceased), Reathe Anderson (deceased), and Ralph Anderson (deceased). Wallace also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In reflection of Wallace's life, one can say he adored, loved his family and God.
Grandchildren & Caregivers: He leaves behind a large, extended legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was especially close to his granddaughter, Tina Anderson, who, alongside devoted daughter Cheryl, great-grandchildren Ayden, Aysan, and Arielle, lovingly cared for him in his final days.
Entrepreneurship:
Founded and operated his own landscaping business, serving Duval and surrounding counties for over 25 years. This business served as a cornerstone for teaching his descendants a strong work ethic.
Personality & Interests Character:
Known for his charming, energetic personality and storytelling, he was a true "people magnet" who left a lasting impact on many. Hobbies: Enjoyed traveling, being outdoors, socializing with friends and neighbors and spending long days fishing and crabbing.
Final Days and years Wallace passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on Tuesday, May 12th 2026. Prior to his passing, he received loving care from his devoted daughter, Cheryl Anderson, his granddaughter, Tina Anderson (whom he helped raise from birth), Kutarah Anderson, Demetris Anderson, Derek Anderson, and AJ Oxendine, and his great- grandchildren, Arielle Redmond (Joel), Ayden Anderson-Hall, Aysan Anderson-Hall. He was also frequently visited by his longtime friend, Bishop and niece Nicole. Wallace spent a short time in Tampa, Fl visiting Francis and his grandchildren Shawn and Trice in Tampa, Florida. Wallace frequently spoke on the phone with his brother Riley Anderson, sister Arnie Brown, daughter Patricia and granddaughters Princess and Niecie.
