Mrs. Maggie Mae Fields, 79 was a resident of McAlpin, Florida.
Maggie was born on December 5, 1946 in O’Brien, Florida to the late Henry and Corener Thomas. She accepted Christ at an early age. She attended New Mt. Zion Baptist Church in O’Brien, Florida. Maggie graduated from O’Brien High School in 1964.
Maggie joined John in Holy matrimony on March 9, 1968. They were married for fifty-six years.
Maggie worked as a substitute teacher for the Suwannee County School District for over thirty years. Before that she worked at Gold Kist in Live Oak, Florida and as a Substitute bus driver for the Suwannee County School District.
Maggie enjoyed educating and instructing students at Suwannee Elementary East and Suwannee Middle Schools. She also enjoyed spending time with family; growing flowers, shrubs, and vegetables; and taking care of her family and grandchildren.
Mrs. Maggie departed this life on June 13, 2026, at the Live Oak Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center under the care of Vitas Healthcare-Hospice. She was survived by three sons: John L. Fields Jr. (Evelyn), Derreck Fields(Kim-Fiancé), and Jarrod Fields. One step-daughter: Johnette Richardson (Theodore); four brothers: Samuel Thomas, Luther Thomas, Jimmy Thomas (Kim), and Lewis Thomas (Charlie); two sisters: Alease Solomon and Vernell Robinson; grandchildren Tionne Williams, Cameron Fields-Lane, Jarrod Fields Jr., Jasyl Fields, Jarez Fields, Zariyah Jones, Jaden Fields, Jaxden Fields, Tiffany Ivey ( Claudies), and Nicholas Richardson (Rebecca); and a host ofnieces, nephews, cousins, great-grandchildren, other family and sorrowing friends.
Maggie was preceded in death by her husband John Fields, her father Henry Thomas Sr., her mother Corener Thomas, four brothers: Henry Thomas Jr., Lonnie Thomas, John Thomas, and Ulyssess Thomas.
