IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Cleon
Westberry
July 21, 1936 – March 29, 2026
Mr. James Cleon Westberry was born in Fort Ogden, Florida, in DeSoto County, to the late J.C. and Alma Westberry.
In 1942, James relocated with his family to Live Oak, Florida, where he was raised and became a lifelong member of the community. He attended Suwannee High School beginning in 1952.
James was a man who found joy in working with his hands. A skilled mechanic by trade, he loved fixing and building anything he could, whether it was a project at home or helping his children and grandchildren. He took great pride in being able to lend a helping hand and was happiest when he was working on something mechanical.
In 1960, James honorably served his country in the United States Army as an engineer, including service in Korea.
In November 1963, he was united in holy matrimony to Connie Elizabeth Hart, and together they shared 63 loving years of marriage filled with devotion, family, and cherished memories.
He leaves to cherish his memories: His loving wife, Connie Westberry; his eight children: James C. Westberry of Kentucky, John M. Westberry of Live Oak, Florida, Gail W. Cross (Russell) of Lake City, Florida, Jerry J. Westberry (Natalie) of Wisconsin, Patrick C. Westberry (Beth) of Live Oak, Florida, Donna Westberry (Charles Corbin) of O’Brien, Florida, Joe Deanna Harrell (Dee) of Wellborn, Florida, and LaJuan Campbell (Joe) of Kentucky. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Alma Westberry; Former wife, Shirley Cribbs; his daughter, Patricia; and his sisters, Wilma, Bessie, and Roydell.
James will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love for family, and his willingness to help anyone in need. His legacy of dedication and kindness will live on in all who knew and loved him.
